Operating a small ROV is generally no more risky than playing a video game, however the environments in which ROVs are used carry their own risks. The primary concerns are operating an electrically powered device in a typically wet environment. When operated from a vessel or offshore location, or in a confined space such as a tank, risks associated with these locations must also be considered.
Risks include those to persons, the equipment and the surroundings. See the subsections of this section for more information.
